There were two answers to the following question. By squaring both sides it will gives ( 2 x + 1 ) 2 = ( 4 x + 3 ) 2 (2x+1)^{2} = (4x+3)^{2} , which, when solved, will give the equation of ( x + 1 ) ( 3 x + 2 ) = 0 (x+1)(3x+2) = 0 . As such, the answer is x = 1 , 2 3 x= -1, \frac{-2}{3} , both of which are true
