If both (x-2) and (x- 1 2 \frac{1}{2} ) are factors of p x 2 px^{2} +5x+r,

and if p = kr, find the value of k.

Since x=2 and x=1/2 are factors of this given equation. By putting the value of x as 2 and 1/2 in the equations we get two different equations as 4p + 10 + r = 0 and p/4 + 5/2 + r=0. After solving these equations we get p =-2 and r=-2. Substituting there value in p=rk we get k as 1.
