I assumed the quadrilateral was a rectangle, in which case top and bottom are parallel. And so the second angle on the base of the lower triangle is 14° (alternate angle to the one given as 14°)

So x, being an exterior angle of the triangle, is given as the sum of the two non-adjacent angles: 8+14 = 22
