If we know that x = 10 \color{#20A900}\boxed{x = 10}

x + y = 14 \boxed{x + y = 14}

10 + y = 14 10 + y = 14

y = 14 10 y = 14 - 10

y = 4 \color{#20A900}\boxed{y = 4}

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

If we don't know that x = 10 x = 10

x + y = 14 \boxed{x + y = 14}

x y = 6 \boxed{x - y = 6}

x + y + x y = 16 + 4 \boxed{x + y} + \boxed{x - y} = 16 + 4

2 x = 20 2x = 20

x = 10 \color{#20A900}\boxed{x = 10}

x + y = 14 \boxed{x + y = 14}

10 + y = 14 10 + y = 14

y = 14 10 y = 14 - 10

y = 4 \color{#20A900}\boxed{y = 4}

First, find an easier way. If 10+ =14 and 10- =6 what is _? Try 4 because, 10+4=14 then 10-4=6 right? Yes, so 4 is the right answer. YaY
