As x x is a integer the maximum value of x x is 9.

Now, this is the tricky part. ( x ) 2 = ( x ) 2 (x)^{2} =(-x)^{2} which means that -9 will be least value of x x

Therefore answer =-9-9 = -18

The largest square under hundred is 81 81 , which is 9 2 9^2 . Thus

x m a x = 9 x_{max}=9

But x x can even be a negative integer as the square of a negative integer is a positive. Thus

x m i n = 9 x_{min}=-9

Hence x m i n x m a x = 9 9 = 18 x_{min}-x_{max}=-9-9=-18
