Area Rocks

Geometry Level 2

A sector with acute angle θ \large\theta is cut from a circle of radius 7 cm. Find the area (in cm 2 \text{ cm}^{2} ) of the circle circumscribing the sector.

For the final step of your calculation, use the approximation π 22 7 \pi \approx \dfrac{22}7 .

Clarification: The angle θ \theta is measured in radians.

77 2 cos 2 θ 2 \frac{77}2 \cos^2 \frac \theta 2 77 2 sin 2 θ 2 \frac{77}2 \sin^2 \frac \theta 2 77 2 sec 2 θ 2 \frac{77}2 \sec^2 \frac \theta 2 22 7 sec 2 θ 2 \frac{22}7 \sec^2 \frac \theta 2 None of the others

Let the radius be j. jcos(®/2)=7/2 j=7sec(®/2)/2 Area= π j^2=77sec^2(®÷2)/2........take π=22/7
