$x+y=14$

Substitute $7$ for $x$ .

$7+y=14$

Subtract $7$ from both sides of the equation to isolate $y$ .

$7-7+y=14-7$

Since $x = y$ :

$2y = 14$

If $x = 7$ , then

$7 + y = 14$

$y = 14 - 7$

$y = 7$

Let $x=a,y=b$ .

Then let $a=m,b=n$ .

Then let $m=p,n=q$

Now,

$p+q=14$

$n=q=y=7$

$p+7=14$

$p+7-1-1-1-1-1-1-1=14-1-1-1-1-1-1-1=7$

$p=7$

$\implies m=p-7$

$\implies a=m=7$

$\implies x=a=7$

If $x$ + $y$ is 14

And x is 7 y must be 14 - x which is 7
