x + y = 14 x+y=14

Substitute 7 7 for x x .

7 + y = 14 7+y=14

Subtract 7 7 from both sides of the equation to isolate y y .

7 βˆ’ 7 + y = 14 βˆ’ 7 7-7+y=14-7

y = 7 \color{#69047E}\large{\boxed{y=7}} a n s w e r \color{#EC7300}\boxed{answer}

Since x = y x = y :

2 y = 14 2y = 14

y = 7 y = \fbox 7

By substituting x = 7 x=7 into the equation we find that 7 + y = 14 β‡’ subtract 7 y = 14 βˆ’ 7 = 7 7+y=14 \xRightarrow[]{\text{subtract }7}y=14-7=\green{\boxed{7}}

x + y = 14 x + y = 14

If x = 7 x = 7 , then

7 + y = 14 7 + y = 14

y = 14 βˆ’ 7 y = 14 - 7

y = 7 y = 7

Let x = a , y = b x=a,y=b .

Then let a = m , b = n a=m,b=n .

Then let m = p , n = q m=p,n=q

Now,

p + q = 14 p+q=14

n = q = y = 7 n=q=y=7

p + 7 = 14 p+7=14

p + 7 βˆ’ 1 βˆ’ 1 βˆ’ 1 βˆ’ 1 βˆ’ 1 βˆ’ 1 βˆ’ 1 = 14 βˆ’ 1 βˆ’ 1 βˆ’ 1 βˆ’ 1 βˆ’ 1 βˆ’ 1 βˆ’ 1 = 7 p+7-1-1-1-1-1-1-1=14-1-1-1-1-1-1-1=7

p = 7 p=7

⟹ m = p βˆ’ 7 \implies m=p-7

⟹ a = m = 7 \implies a=m=7

⟹ x = a = 7 \implies x=a=7

My solution is better.

If x x + y y is 14

And x is 7 y must be 14 - x which is 7

7+7=14 this is trivial
