A school starts exactly at 9.00 am. If each period ends after 40 minutes and there is rest for 5 minutes between two consecutive periods, when will the third period end?

Let there be x periods then 40x + 5(x – 1) = total times total time from options are 135, 145, 130, 190 minutes respectively.

equate the equations 40x + 5x – 5 = 135, or 145 or 130 or 190

but only equation 45x – 5 = 130 give integer solution x = 3 so answer is 11:10

The first period ends at 9 : 40 a m 9:40\;am .The second period starts at 9 : 45 a m 9:45\;am and ends at 10 : 25 a m 10:25\;am .The third period starts at 10 : 30 a m 10:30\;am and ends at 11 : 10 a m 11:10 \;am
