Alice and Bob are playing a badminton match.
A badminton match comprises of 3 games: whoever wins 2 games wins the match.
For each game, the winner is the one who scores 21 points first.
When Charles switches on the TV, Alice and Bob are already playing their third game. The last point before the game ends goes to Alice.

If the same player won the first two games, the match would have ended by the time Charles switches the TV on. The third game would have been played as the deciding final game, so by winning it Alice also won the match.
