Band Stop Filter

The RLC band stop filter below takes a sinusoidal input voltage signal V S V_S and produces an output signal V o u t V_{out} . This type of filter screens out frequencies within a narrow band and lets others through with near unity gain.

Let G ( ω ) G(\omega) be the scalar filter gain, which is the magnitude of V o u t V_{out} divided by the magnitude of V S V_S at a particular angular frequency ω \omega . Determine the following integral:

0 5 ( 1 G ( ω ) ) d ω \int_0^5 \Big(1 - G(\omega) \Big) \, d \omega

Details and Assumptions:
1) R = 3 R = 3
2) L = 1 L = 1
3) C = 1 C = 1

The answer is 0.3219.
