Base 3 Money

You are on a planet called Tritrion. There is a store where you can by all sorts of commemoratives. You want to buy a set of 100 postcards, but there's only one problem. Every foreigner and shopkeeper is supplied with only one of every of the following denominated notes: $3^{0}$ , $3^{1}$ , $3^{2}$ , $3^{3}$ , $3^{4}$ , $3^{5}$ etc. , so when you pay, all you can do is give or exchange notes. Find the number of possible whole number prices (from $1 - 1000 inclusive) if you were able to pay exactly that amount of money.
