Given:

X + Y = 22 X+Y=22

X Y = 18 X-Y=18

Substituting, we get:

X + Y = 22 X+Y=22

X = 22 Y X=22-Y

Putting X X in the second equation.

X Y = 18 X-Y=18

22 Y Y = 18 22-Y-Y=18

2 Y = 18 22 -2Y=18-22

2 Y = 4 -2Y=-4

Y = 2 Y=2

So, X = 22 Y = 22 2 = 20 X=22-Y=22-2=20

So, X Y = 20 × 2 = 40 XY=20\times2=40

Thus, the answer is: X Y = 40 XY=\boxed{40}

x + y = 22 x+y=22 .................[1]

x y = 18 x-y=18 ..................[2]

so, adding [1]+[2] we get,

x + y + x y = 22 + 18 x+y+x-y=22+18

or, 2 x = 40 , o r , x = 20 2x=40 , or, x=20

so, y = 2 y=2 and x y xy = 20 × 2 = 40 20 \times 2=40

Adding both the equations, we get, 2X =40

X = 20 & Y= 2

XY = 20 x 2 = 40

Add the equations to get:- 2 x = 20 x = 20 2x = 20\\ x = 20 .
So, 20 + y = 22 y = 2 x y = 20 × 2 x y = 40 20 + y = 22\\ y = 2\\ \implies xy = 20 × 2\\ xy = \color{#69047E}{\boxed{40}}

Treat this as a equation and add them together so X+X+Y-Y=22+18. The Ys cancel out and you are left with 2X=40. Divide each side by 2 and X=20. Now plug it in on of the equations: 20+Y=22. Y=2. Now you can multiply them together just what the question asked for.

Solving the first 2 equations, we get 'X=20' and substituting value of 'X' in any of the first 2 equations, we get 'Y=2' And finally 'XY = 20x2 = 40'

By subtracting we get value of X =2= and substituting this in given equation value of Y is 2 So value of XY =40 Ans

20+2=22 and 20-2=18 so x=20 and y=2 so xy i.e. Xxy=20x2=40
