Since, A year has 365 days, And 365 = 1 ( m o d 7 ) 1 (mod 7) ,

Now, Since 2016 is a leap Year, 366 = 2 ( m o d 7 ) 2(mod 7)

Now, Since February has 29 days and we are past February, The day will increase by 2. Note that the Same would not have happened if the date would have been 25th February or something Before that.

Hence, The day increases by 2, i.e. The day becomes Friday :D

Cheers!

We don't need to know the day on march 25 2015. We can directly use the formula for finding the day on any specific date. So we can directly find the day on march 25 2016.

If you're talking about the The Doomsday Algorithm , then it's still doable. But since we are given the date of the previous year, it's easier to calculate it by simply knowing the numbers of days in a year.

definitely it is easier since the day is given, i was just mentioning that the day was not necessary

You can build in a function in an Excel spreadsheet to automatically tell the weekday of a date. Check out the commands that I use. We can even make Sunday to be red using conditional formatting.

Usually, the same date in the next year has a day that immediately follows the day of that particular date this year. But remember that 2016 is a leap year so we have to advance the day by NOT ONE but TWO days since there is an extra day in February.

Why is it so? Usually?

Pi Han Goh - 6 years ago

A date in a year comes in a particular day. In the next year the same date(DD/MM) comes in the next day. In that way, the answer should be Thursday. But 2016's a leap year for which it increases by 1 day and thus the ans. is friday. Good work Arora

Moderator note:

This solution has been marked incomplete. Your solution lacks mathematical rigor. You need to explain why "In the next year the same date(DD/MM) comes in the next day". Why couldn't it comes in the next 2 days or the previous day?

No offence, But kindly refer to anyone with their First name or their full name. Not their Last name.
