It is said that one day, Batman decided to put aside his jobs and take a rest. He went to the first casino and paid 5$ for the entrance fee. He managed to win and double his current money. When he walked out, he had to pay 5$ for the Batman Supercar parking fee. He went to the second casino, also paid 5$ for the entrance fee, and doubled his money. However, after paying 5$ for parking, Batman found out that he had no money left. How much money (in dollars) did Batman have at first?


The answer is 11.25.

  1. Initial money at Batman's pocket: x
  2. After paying the entrance fee at the first casino: x - 5
  3. After winning at the first casino: 2. (x - 5)
  4. Parking fee at the first casino: 2x - 10 - 5
  5. After paying the entrance fee at the second casino: 2x - 15 - 5
  6. After winning at the second casino: 2. (2x - 20)
  7. After paying the parking fee at the second casino: 4x - 40 - 5

The last amount is equal to 0, according to the question. So , 4x - 45 = 0 -----> 4x = 45 .: x = 45/4 .: x = 11.25
