The volume of a cube of side x x is x 3 x^3 and the surface area is 6 x 2 6x^2 . Since they are numerically equal, we have

x 3 = 6 x 2 x^3=6x^2

x = 6 x=6

Therefore the volume is x 3 = 6 3 = x^3=6^3= 216 \boxed{216} .
