When a billiard player strikes the cue ball at the center horizontally, causing it to skid and make a head-on collision with an identical ball at rest, what will happen?

Assume that the collision is perfectly elastic and friction is absent.

This looks like a copy of one of my problems. Did you copy it? (I'm not trying to make a loaded question)

I have a question.Though I am not sure and a bit stupid, won't the force applied by the collision of cue ball with the other ball cause a reaction from the other ball resulting in force being applied on the cue ball and the cue ball moving the opposite direction?

A perfectly elastic collision does not behave like that, all the energy is absorbed.
