Logic Level 2

Black has made a wrong move. Then it's White 's turn to move.

How many moves does White need for the fastest possible checkmate?

The lesson is to learn sacrifice.

White sacrificed the rook. The Black has no option just to take the rook by the bishop.

Then comes an easy checkmate by the Queen

Well its a forced mate so tough luck for black

So the takeaway is no pain, no gain, huh?

P/S: That's a self-explanatory solution, good job!

I was thinking the same thing, only BACKWARDS!

The wording of the problem is problematic. "Wrong move" sounds like an illegal move. "A strategically poor move," or its equivalent is needed.

Moderator note:

This type of situation is fairly realistic for regular play (unlike some other chess puzzles). In particular having an opposing knight near the back rank when the king is trapped is extremely dangerous and should be remedied as soon as possible (by either capturing or chasing away the knight, or by giving the king a safe passage).

Black could not have made that move. The white night already has the black king in check, so the only legal moves are either the black king moves out of check or the bishop or the knight takes the white knight.

The image has been changed to something that is incorrect. I'll tell the staff about it.

Moving the bishop out of the way by playing Bd3 was a very big blunder by Black.

Thanks for decomposing each step into pictures for people like me who are bad at chess notation :)
