Easily we can see ⌊ 2 0 1 8 + 2 0 2 0 ⌋ 2 = 6 3
So 63 is the largest side of such square. Since 63 is odd we will use 1 more black tile than white tile, if we allow black to have the corners.
2 6 3 2 − 1 = 1 9 8 4
So 1984 is how many white tiles are used and 1985 black tiles. This means 2020-1985=35, and 35 black tiles are left over.
