A's grandmother is C, and A's mother and B are sisters so, A's mother is maternal aunt of D. So C becomes grandmother of E

One way of solving this type of problem is by making a family tree. Note that the mother of A and mother of D and E are on the same level. Since B is the mother of E, and B is the daughter of C, then C is the grandmother of E.
