Diatomic Nitogen molecule has valency of making 3 bonds between nitrogen-nitrogen atom... as per according to MO's diagram its B o n d O r d e r = ( N b + N a ) / 2 BondOrder=(Nb+Na)/2 where N b Nb is atomic paired electron bonds and Na is paired lateral side electron ... as per MOs diagram B o n d O r d e r = ( 8 2 ) / 2 = 3 BondOrder=(8-2)/2=3 , so bond order of N 2 N_{2} is 3 3 we also can determine its order by valency of atom to form such a bond .. nitrogen has 3 valency of electron which are deficiency so it complete valency by forming diatomic molecule through 3 bonds...so order of bond is 3 3
