The red square A B C D ABCD has area = 16. The triangle A E H AEH has area = 3 2 \frac{3}{2} . Find the area of blue square.

Since A B C D ABCD and E F G H EFGH both are squares, all four triangles ( A E H AEH , E B F EBF , F C G FCG , G D H GDH ) will have the same area.

Thus, E F G H EFGH = A B C D ABCD - 4 × A E H 4\times AEH = 16 4 × ( 3 2 = 16 - 4\times(\frac{3}{2} ) = 10 = 10
