Box problem

Level pending

Find largest 9 consecutive integers that can be arranged in the form:

a × b × c + d × e × f = g × h × i a \times b \times c + d \times e \times f = g \times h \times i (i.e. sum of volume of two boxes = volume of another box)

what is the value of g × h × i g \times h \times i (i.e. volume of largest box)?

The answer is 1092.

Now, that's interesting, Vikram Pandya and Rita the Dog are here. Both of you guys know me from Y!A.

This problem by Vikram Pandya deserves more attention.

Here's the solution to this problem, without proof

( 5 ) ( 6 ) ( 10 ) + ( 8 ) ( 9 ) ( 11 ) = ( 7 ) ( 12 ) ( 13 ) = 1092 (5)(6)(10)+(8)(9)(11)=(7)(12)(13)=1092

Give me the proof
