Take out one sock....assume it to black. The second sock you remove, may be black or white. If it is black, then you have a pair, but if it is a white you need to remove one more. The next sock you remove may be black or white, if black u have a pair.....if white, u still get a pair. Therefore three socks are minimum required to get a pair. Same cases are applicable if you remove a white sock first :)

The question is too obvious.

When we have three socks, there must be a pair. Two possible cases may be 1. 1 white 2 black 2. 2 white 1 black

As we have only 2 Type of socks : 1st Step : W/B 2nd Step again : W/B Pair of any color has to be sure

If we take out two socks they may be or not of same colour so when we take out another sock, it's colour will definitely match with at least any one of the previous two socks,therefore the answer is 3 socks.
