They will reach a point when their displacement along the track (taking the direction of the 6kmph runner as a reference) will be equal.

Displacement = Speed × \times Time 6 12 t = 6 t 6 - 12t = 6t t = 1 3 h o u r s t = \frac13 hours t = 20 m i n u t e s \boxed{t=20 minutes}

6 12 + 6 = 6 18 = 1 3 \frac{6}{12+6} = \frac{6}{18} = \frac{1}{3} hours = 20 \boxed{20} mins.

since they run in opposite direcction there relative speed adds up. so , time = 6/(6+12)= 1/3 hr =20 min
