Brilliand

Brilliand's mayor is collecting data about people's lives; he knows that for every 100 people that live in the city of Brilliand, 50 live in a house of two people, 30 live in a house of three people and 20 live in a house of four people. What is the mean number of people that live in a house in Brilliand?

2 2.9 3 2.5 2.6 2.8 2.7

No. Of houses for:

  • 2 people= 25 25

  • 3 people= 10 10

  • 4 people= 5 5

Total houses=40

Avg.= 100 40 = 2.5 \frac{100}{40}=\boxed{2.5}

Well done. I would add that this applies to all the Brilliand population because of the meaning of percentage.

PS.: It's incredible that you're the first to get right such a simple problem.
