Bullet

A bullet is moving with a velocity of 30 2 m / s 30\sqrt{2}\ \si{\meter/\second} is fired into a fixed target, it penetrates to a depth of s s meters. If the bullet is fired into a target of thickness s 2 \dfrac{s}{2} meters, made from the same material, with the same velocity, what will be the bullet's velocity when it exits the target?

Assumptions

  • The resistive force on the bullet in the target is a constant, independent of velocity or position.
30 30 m / s \si{\meter/\second} 20 2 m / s 20\sqrt{2}\ \si{\meter/\second} 15 2 m / s 15\sqrt{2}\ \si{\meter/\second} 20 20 m / s \si{\meter/\second}
