Using the general binomial probability formula,

P P ( k k out of n n ) = n ! k ! ( n k ) ! \dfrac{n!}{k!(n - k)!} p k p^k ( 1 p ) ( n k ) (1 - p)^{(n - k)}

Substitute ,

p = 0.4 p = 0.4

n = 7 n = 7

k = 4 k = 4

Now,

P P ( 4 4 Burgers out of 7 7 ) = 7 ! 4 ! ( 7 4 ) ! \dfrac{7!}{4!(7 - 4)!} ( 0.4 ) 4 (0.4)^4 ( 1 0.4 ) ( 7 4 ) (1 - 0.4)^{(7 - 4)}

= = 7 ! 4 ! 3 ! \dfrac{7!}{4!3!} ( 0.4 ) 4 (0.4)^4 ( 0.6 ) 3 (0.6)^3

= = 7 × 6 × 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1 4 × 3 × 2 × 1 × 3 × 2 × 1 \dfrac{7 × 6 × 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1}{4 × 3 × 2 × 1 × 3 × 2 × 1 } ( 0.4 ) 4 (0.4)^4 ( 0.6 ) 3 (0.6)^3

= 35 × 0.0256 × 0.216 = 35 × 0.0256 × 0.216

= 0.193536 = 0.193536

= 0.19 = 0.19 is the answer with 2 2 decimal places
