We can multiply 19.76 50 = 988. 19.76 * 50 = 988.

One trick for doing this is to write 50 = 100 × 1 2 . 50 = 100 \times \frac{1}{2}. Then, we can move the decimal point by 2 (19.76 \rightarrow 1976,) and then divide by 2, to get 988.

Multiplying by 100 is more easily achieved by first multiplying by 100, and then dividing by 2. Therefore, 19.76*100 = 1976 (a shift of two decimal places to the left). 1976/2 = 988 (which is the answer).

US$19.76 x 50 shares = US$988

Como o preço por ação é US$19.76, basta multiplicá-lo pelo número de ações compradas (50). Logo, US$19.76 x 50 = US$988.00.

The simplest way to solve a simple multiplication problem with decimals like this, I think, is to multiply the decimal and the whole number separately, as such:

19 * 50 = 950

.76 * 50 = 38

950 + 38 = 988

Therefore, the answer in this case is $988

Price Per Share (PPS) multiply to the total number of shares (TS) that has been bought is equal to the total cost(TC) TC = ? PPS = US$19.76 TS = 50 shares TC = PPS x TS =US$19.76 x 50 shares = US$ 988

Cost of one share=19.76$; Thus,cost of 50 shares=50 (19.76)=19.76 (100/2)=1976/2=988;

I like how you approach multiplying by 50 as multiplying by 100 and then dividing by 2. Makes it slightly easier.
