Calvin decides to work in a farm. He agrees with the farmer that for one working year he will get 10200 $ and a pig. However, after five months he decides to leave the job and he gets 3375 $ and the pig from the farmer.

What's the value of the pig in dollars ?

his yearly salary = 10200+pig. hence, monthly salary = (10200+pig)/12

salary he got for 5 months = 3375+pig hence, monthly salary = (3375+pig)/5

therefore, (10200+pig)/12 = (3375+pig)/5

(10200+pig) 5 =(3375+pig) 12

(10200 * 5)-(3375 * 12) = 7*pig

pig = 1500

His monthly salary is 10200/ 12 + 1/12 pig. Since he worked for 5 months, he got paid 3375 + pig instead of 4250 and 1/12 pig. The difference of 4250-3375 must be equivalent to 7/12 of the pig. Therefore, the whole pig (12/12) is 875 x 12/7=1500m
