Two friends are camping at different sites and want to hang out. They agree to meet in the middle of their two camp sites. Can you help them find the coordinates for the middle?

First we should remember that any two points make a line and the center of that line is the midpoint. Therefore we should use the midpoint formula to solve this problem.

( x 1 + x 2 2 , y 1 + y 2 2 ) \left(\frac{x_1+x_2}{2},\frac{y_1+y_2}{2}\right)

( 2 + 8 2 , 5 + 1 2 ) \left(\frac{2+8}{2},\frac{5+1}{2}\right)

( 5 , 3 ) (5,3)
