For the first pattern- 3, 10, 7 it increases by seven and seven is the next number. For the next one, it goes 7,18,11 7 up to 18 is 11 and the next number is 11. This continues and to find the pattern in 19,42,? simply do 42-19=23.

If we look at the first series of Alternate numbers i.e. 1,7,11,13,19 we see that the common difference is 4. IN the next series of 10,18,26,34,42 we see that the difference is of 8. So, the next digit of the series should be of the first Alternating series. So according to that we get - 19+4=23. Simple! :)
