Relevant wiki: Adding Fractions

Add up the fractions in pairs as shown above, and we can see that all the paired sum is 1.

Since there is 5 paired sum of 1, then the answer is 5 × 1 = 5 5\times1=\boxed5 .

Calculate the sum of the diagonals (fractions with the same denominators) first, then add them to get the answer:

1 2 = 0.5 \frac {1}{2} = 0.5

1 + 2 3 = 3 3 = 1 \frac {1 + 2}{3} = \frac {3}{3} = 1

1 + 2 + 3 4 = 6 4 = 1.5 \frac {1 + 2 + 3}{4} = \frac {6}{4} = 1.5

1 + 2 + 3 + 4 5 = 10 5 = 2 \frac {1 + 2 + 3 + 4}{5} = \frac {10}{5} = 2

0.5 + 1 + 1.5 + 2 = 5 0.5 + 1 + 1.5 + 2 = \boxed {5}
