Let the distant between the place and the place where he starts be x.

while travelling from the place where he starts to the destination, the time taken by him is x/10 -----(1)

while travelling from the destination to the place where he start to row,the time taken by him is x/2 --------(2

(1)+(2) =>x/10+x/2 =2\frac{1}{2}

=>2x+10x/20=9/4

=>12x/20=9/4

=>12x=45

=>x=45/12

=>x=3.75

yeah crrct

speed downstream=(6+4)=10Km/hr and speed downstream=(6-4)=2Km/hr let the required distance be 'x' km. then,x/10+x/2=9/4 => 6x/10=9/4 => {x=9 10/4 6} or,x=3.75 [Note that,downstream speed= Let the speed of the man in still water=x Km/hr and speed of the stream=y Km/hr,then, speed of the man with stream: downstream speed=(x+y)Km/hr upstream speed=(x-y)Km/hr]
