If four cows are tied to the four corners of a square shaped field for grazing such that, each cow can just reach to two of its neighboring cows.
If the side of the square field is 14 cm and all the cows are tied with rope of same length, then how much area of the field (in cm^2) will remain ungrazed by the cows???

The area of the square will be 14×14=196 cm^2
Now as each cow can reach just to two of its neighbors so the area covered by one cow will be πr^2/4 Where 'r' will be half of the square's side I.e. 7. Hence one cow will graze 49π/4 cm^2 area..
As there are such four cows the total area grazed by them will be 4×49π/4 = 49π = 49×(22/7) = 154 cm^2.
Hence the area remaining ungrazed will be = 196-154 = 42 cm^2
Hope everything is clear...
