Combined, or equivalent capacitance, is the sum of all possible combinations of capacitors in a circuit. It depends on whether the caps are positioned in:

Series: 1 C e q = k = 1 N 1 C k \frac{1}{C_{eq}} = \sum_{k=1}^{N} \frac{1}{C_{k}} ;

Parallel: C e q = k = 1 N C k C_{eq} = \sum_{k=1}^{N} C_{k}
