x = 7. It overtook 3 cars: the 12th position + two more cars. So y = 3. Because it overtook the 12th placer, it is now at the 12th position. If it overtook 1 car, it's now at the 11th. If it overtook one more, then it's now at the 10th. So n = 10. n + x + y = 10 + 7 + 3 = 20.

in race if u overtakes a person u wil be in the place of that person i.e., if u overtakes 1st place u wil be in the 1st place. this question is similar to the above idea. now x=7 (car number) then y=3 (No. of car he overtook) finally z=10 (the place he is now-he overtook 3 places from 13th so it is 10th ). now x+y+z=7+3+10=20

n+x+y =3+7+10=20 Where n=3 is the recent position of the car, x=7 is the entry no. of the car And y=10 the no. of car of overtake.
