Given that Carbon-14 decays at a constant rate in such a way that it reduces to 50% in 5568 years.Then, find the age of an old wooden piece in which the carbon is only 12.5% of the original.

Originally, C-14 is at 100% C-14 decays to 50 % in 5568 years C-14 decays to 25% in another 5568 years C-14 decays to 12.5% in another 5568 years

C-14 reduces to 12.5% in total 16704 years

i thought "decays in constant rate" doesn't mean like this solution.. i thought the answer is 9744 however..

Same here, the question means d N d t = k \frac{dN}{dt} = -k for some constant k

If th carbon reduce like this , it can never be reduced full!??
