Carnival Over Pricing

Algebra Level 3

I went to the carnival one day. I bought a corn dog for $8.00, and I bought a 10oz. drink for $6.00. I thought that it was way over priced. I argued with the man for a couple minutes. Then he said that I would get 25% off. I wasn't satisfied. He then gave me an additional 50% off. I was finally satisfied and paid him. How much money did I give him?

The corn dog and the drink is a total of $14. Twenty five percent is 3.5. 14 - 3.5 = 10.5. There is an additional 50% off. So 10.5 / 2= 5.25. I spent a total of $5.25.
