Case of Missing Pizza Portion

Geometry Level 3

One day, a guy ordered a 6-slice pizza. After the delivery arrived to his apartment, he paid the bill and checked the pizza. It was still in perfect condition. Then he realized that there was no drink in the fridge. So he went to grocery store, instead.

He returned to his apartment in confusion, noticing a weird portion of pizza had gone (see the picture). It was known that the pizza has 12 cm of diameter. Since the guy was too hungry to find the culprit, he only wanted to know remaining area of pizza available for dinner. Put your answer to help him. (Assume the pizza was perfect circle and sliced equally. The missing portion was also removed precisely)

The answer is 90.987.

Remaining area = 2 × π r 2 3 + a r ( next to Stolen piece ) \text{Remaining area }= \dfrac{2\times \pi r^2}{3}+ ar(\triangle \text{ next to Stolen piece})

= 2 × 3.1416 × 6 2 3 + 3 27 \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ = \dfrac{2\times 3.1416\times 6^2}{3}+3\sqrt{27}

= 90.9866 c m 2 \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ =90.9866 cm^2
