We know, v=u+at, Here, v = 0 a = - 9.8 m/s^2 u = 4.9 m/s, So, t= 0 4.9 9.8 \frac{0 - 4.9}{-9.8}
= 0.5 . It will take same time for the ball to come back. Therefore,the answer is 2 times 0.5=1 .

Shouldn't this be under Classical Mechanics?
