Chacko Mash Reloaded

Logic Level 2

An government official came to Chacko Mash's to take a survey. He asked Mash "How many kids you have". Mash replied "I have 3 daughters of whose product of ages are 36. Any way I don't think that knowing the sum of their ages does you any good but I tell you what my eldest daughter is very fond of cats". What is the age of Mash's daughters.

6,3,2 18,2,1 36,1,1 9,4,1 4,3,3 9,2,2

The 2nd Statement says that the sum was not useful for the government official so it meant that there are two or more sets of numbers with the same sum and product 36 of which one is can be the answer.6,6,1 and 9,2,2 are sets of numbers that follow the above criteria. But the first set 6,6,1is in direct disagreement with the last statement which clearly indicates that Mash had only one elder daughter not daughters. Thus our answer is 9,2,2.

Could cats having 9 lives also be a clue? I narrowed it down to the 4th and 6th choice.
