An ether (X), C6H14O, when heated with excess of hot concentrated HI produced two alkyl iodides which when treated with aqueous NaOH yielded compounds (Y) and (Z). Oxidation of (Y) gave ethanoic acid while oxidation of (Z) to organic compound containing same number of carbon atoms containing organic compound is not possible. The name the ether (X) is :
