toothpaste is actually a base and it has a high pH value

Decay of teeth takes place due to H+ ions. To neutralise these ions, toothpaste pH is greater than 7.

the food which we eat gets struck in our teeth and attract bacteria! This bacteria produce acid! and thus pOH must be less than 7 for toothpaste!
