Vaporization is the process in which a liquid is converted to gas at room temperature. As the sun's rays fall on the clothes ( the no. of water molecules per unit surface area of the cloth is meager for water is evenly spread throughout ) , the water molecules at the surface gain enough energy to escape as gas molecules. It may also happen to a glass of water kept in the sun, but there the surface area of water molecules exposed to the sun is very less ........... so only a negligible volume of water vaporizes.

It seems like this is the same as evaporation. Is there a difference?
