Velocity of train = 24 × 5 18 = \dfrac{24\times 5}{18} m s 1 ms^{-1}

velocity of man = 3 × 5 18 = \dfrac{3\times 5}{18} m s 1 ms^{-1}

relative velocity of train with respect to man = 27 × 5 18 = 15 2 = \dfrac{27\times 5}{18} = \dfrac{15}{2} m s 1 ms^{-1}

let time taken by train to cross the be t t

therefore 15 t 2 = 270 \dfrac{15t}{2} = 270

hence t = 270 × 2 15 = 36 t = \dfrac{270\times 2}{15} = 36 s s
