There are two gears. One has 24 pointers (Big) and another has 10 pointers (Small). Big gear only rotates on his place, where small gear rotates on his place along with rotating around big one. (mostly like our sun and earth).
When big gear moves 3 points than small gear moves 2.5 degree around big gear.
How many rotation did big one has to complete to make small one rotate around him for 1 time.

When big gear moves its 3 points than small gear moves 2.5 degree around big gear.
There are 360 degrees in the circle. Hence big gear have to move 3 points for 360/2.5 = 144 times.
Now if big gear moves 3 points for 144 times than it will totally move 144 * 3 = 432 points.
Since it has 24 points, it has to rotate itself 432 / 24 = 18 times to make small gear move around him.
