This is a binary question (yes/no), so the percentages should add up to 100%.

If the percentages added up to less than 100%, then one could theorize that maybe there was a third answer of "I don't know" which wasn't displayed in the news graphic. But with >100%, there's just no good explanation other than pure error!

Anyone have any guesses as to what happened?

Possible explanation for this result? A typo. The result of last Scotland Referendum was "55% No / 45% Yes" so maybe that was and intermediate report that was suppose to show "52% No / 48% Yes". Then again, it could be something else but having to inquiry, I would start there.

It's most likely a typo. But it's not a typo that we (the viewer) can easily fix, since the majority vote would swing either way.

Maybe some people were confused and ticked "Yes" and "No" both (assuming that the survey conductor was not smart enough and made it a multiple choice answer).

Some people were outside the country and voted in the UK or a typo of press.

This would only be possible if there is overlap between yes and no, i.e. people voting both yes and no, simultaneously.

Who says 10% didnt? If not, then this question seems ridiculously simple. Personally, i thought this was going to be another joke question.

There were 10% staying outside the place.

A poll should show the distribution of a sampling. Using percentage and a question where choices are limited and well defined as Yes or No, the total should be 100%.
