Cold water, not hot chocolate

Yesterday was a scroching, sweltering hot day, sunshine everywhere.

"I might as well lie down and have a glass of cold water. Give myself a reward after working hard under the sun, doesn't that make me feel a little bit better!" - I thought to myself.

So I took a bottle of water out of the freezer with some ice cubes from the refrigerator.

"Help me with some of my housework please!" - My mother screamed from the kitchen, frightened me.

"I will." - I shouted.

I ran down the kitchen to cook some vegetables while my mother was planting seeds in her little beautiful garden.

I came back to my bedroom and saw that the ice cubes had melted in the glass.

"Well I guess it's still cold enough for me to enjoy." - I thought to myself.

Was the water level in the glass higher, lower, or in the same place compared to where it was before the ice cubes melted?

The water level is lower. The water level is higher. The water level doesn't change. Cannot be determined.
