Absence of atmosphere would imply no greenhouse effect. Greenhouse gases ( responsible for greenhouse effect) help keep our earth warm and suitable for sustenance of life.

Because of green house gases like CO2 the infrared radiation which are coming on earth surface are not reflected back so, it cause heating of earth surface as 15℃ without the atmosphere the temperature would be -18℃
