A bowler bowled 10 overs...in his spell he bowled 4 maiden overs n gave 15 runs in his total spell .. In how many ways he can bowl 10 overs???


The answer is 420420.

Selecting 4 maiden overs out of 10, ( 10 4 ) \binom{10}{4} .

Now we have to distribute 15 runs to 6 overs such that each one gets atleast single run, ( 9 + 6 − 1 6 − 1 ) = ( 14 5 ) \binom{9+6-1}{6-1}=\binom{14}{5}

So the total number of ways = ( 10 4 ) ( 14 5 ) = 420420 =\binom{10}{4}\binom{14}{5}=420420
